AVIA Women's Avi-Volante Country Walking Shoe

I have worn Avia for many years because I like the option to purchase a shoe with a wide toe box. Loved the style of these shoes but when I opened the box (size 8.5 c/d) I thought they "looked small" but thought, "who doesn't like their feet to look smaller?" Until I tried them on. They weren't smaller width wise, they were smaller length wise. I compared them to the several pairs of Avia shoes I had in my closet and found them to be somewhere between 1/4 to 1/2 inch shorter in length. I did read the reviews and a lot of folks indicated that they "ran small" but I figured I'm buying a wider size. Again, I really liked the style so against my better judgement, I tried to order the next larger size (9...yikes!) but they were about $10.00 more per pair. Really? Am I in a crap shoot now? Sent them back and didn't order the larger size. I did, however, order a different style of Avia ( in 8.5 c/d) and hopefully, this time I won't be disappointed.

I'm not sure i like the uneven surface of the insoles, but I can always swap them out. Other than that this seems like a decent pair of walking shoes. Nice roomy toe box and, because they lace up and even have an extra hole at the top to snug things even more, the heel doesn't slip. Might need longer laces to take advantage of that extra set of holes though. I really like that the sole is tan instead of white, so if I'm walking around on dirt they aren't going to look filthy afterwards. They seem a little big but then I normally wear a narrow, not medium, so I'll just wear them with bulkier socks and they'll be fine. Not the cutest shoes, but if i am working in the yard or walking a trail in a park, I'm not concerned with fashion. I do want to mention that I made absolutely sure I was ordering using Amazon Prime with free returns, but this item arrived with note inside that had a bar code, a phone number to call, and a message saying that return shipping isn't free, and if i returned this item $6.95 would be deducted from my refund. What's with that?

I have wide feet and am always on the lookout for comfortable shoes. The Avia brand is the best. Received these shoes and decided to try walking in them right away. Didn't need any 'breaking in' time. Walked 5 miles right off the bat without difficulty. I have 2 other Avia brand athletic shoes that I use for 4-5 miles of walking exercises (low & high impact) which I love.I purchased these Country Walking Shoes for leisure walking and I think they will be perfect. They are lightweight and very comfortable. Their soles/tread are not as rugged as my athletic shoes which makes sense since they are more for leisure walks than running or aerobic exercise. But in a pinch, I think they would work, just not on a consistent basis.If you are looking for comfortable walking shoes for everyday or traveling, I definitely recommend these!!

I have been buying these AVIA Venture/Volante shoes for their Arch Support and comfort. They don't make them in mens sizes anymore...but I found that a Woman's 11W would fit perfectly (in lieu of my normal 9.5 narrow (mens size).But there is a differnce. The heal is a bit taller by perhaps 3/4" inch in the Woman's version...as compared to the Men's version. But it does not cause me a problem.And for $10, a shoe like this is an absolute steal.I bought 2 pair. One pair had a bad lace, but I checked with the seller who was more than will to help out on that. I was expecting a slow response, but I heard back within an hour. And they were true to their word.

I didn't realize it had the "odd" ridge in the sole, and wasn't sure I would like it when I received it. Then I started wearing it and discovered it's actually very supporting and comfortable. It does take a few minutes to adjust to the different support. I had to replace the shoe strings as the originals absolutely would not stay tied. Once I did that they have been perfect.

After 4 months, I have had to toss these shoes. i have never had a problem with Avia before, but the plastic piece that goes around the back of the heel came loose from the padding and bent forward so there was a sharp plastic edge digging into the back of my ankle on both feet. I don't know if I'm even describing it correctly, because I have never had this happen with another shoe. Two stars instead of one because it was a comfortable, everyday-around-the-house shoe until this happened. I don't see this mentioned in other reviews, so maybe I just got a bad pair.

I like them, returned them for size, got 1/2 size larger .... Adding to this review. I have worn these shoes for walking and have had such incredible discomfort from them that I am giving them one star, want to and will be contacting seller to see if I can return them. The arch support is probably the issue. Have had NO problems with my regular shoes and once I started wearing these, I have experienced such discomfort that am considering a trip to the doctor to see what the problem is. Expect that it is caused by these shoes.

I wore these shoes on a recent trip to Europe where I did a lot of walking. I never had a problem with my feet and were a great shoe to wear with the extent of walking I did. Not only do they have great support, but are really great looking shoes.
