No forward or reverse but when the child presses both buttons at the same time it spins round and flips over; one button on it own - I think it was the right one and the car speeds off - the 4 year old I gave this to had hours and hours of fun out of it . The toy lasted well for several weeks until an older child stood on it ! Hope this helps Happy Christmas
