Campy Creatures

I adore horror, especially older monster films, and I love table top games. I was super excited to play this.First, let me say the art work is really the star of this game. Absolutely stunning work that manages to look both retro *and* fresh and modern.The game play is a little lacking however, imo. First of all, my partner and I mostly play games with each other so I only buy games that are for two players. While this game *is able to be played with two players, they tell you to take out half the deck first. I already felt like there wasn't a huge selection of humans to capture, so taking out half the deck really limits the variety. The game is interesting and is part chance, part knowing/reading your opponent. The problem is that there just aren't that many cards, so it's gets a little repetitive. There isn't a lot of replay value. It isn't a bad game, but we don't play it nearly as much as our others. I understand that there's an expansion either in the works or newly available, but I just don't feel like an expansion should be necessary to fully enjoy a game. Especially for the price of this base game. Honestly, if I had played it beforehand I probably wouldn't have decided to buy it.

Honestly, I bought this because the art was decent and I watched the gameplay on YouTube. Hot tip there: don't buy ANY game before you've seen and understand the gameplay; the internet is your friend. Two player this game is great; gets you psyching out each other; we replayed more than six times over a few days. In a large group, however, it's almost total chaos; I couldn't come up with a strategy for playing against more than one person, and neither could my playmates. In the end it proved too complicated for a large group; I ended up being the "conductor" and helping everyone assess the outcome of each turn. Maybe with a few more play-throughs it would have been easier for the group to self-conduct, but it doesn't have a very high replay value for lack of clear strategies. That being said, if you get familiar with the rules it could be a good game for people who aren't good at strategy games; it seemed to us that anyone had a fair chance of winning, given the impossibility of controlling the outcomes. Self-esteem boost maybe? For us though, this randomness was boring.

A simple game, but great artwork, quick and light, excellent as a filler game. I feel it could be about $5 less for what it is ( a bit overpriced); that's my only complaint. Replayability is good, though I really wish there was some more variance in the "human" cards that the monsters collect. That could have been done for the cost of this game.

This is an easy one to introduce people to and it doesn't get old. You think you figured out people's strategy and then it changes at the drop of a hat. The art on the game is BEAUTIFUL. The game is quick to learn, play, and always gets brought back out for parties.

This is a pretty quick game and it’s pretty fun, but I rated it 3 stars because It felt like there’s not enough variables. I hope there’s an expansion... the game needs more mortals and more creatures.....maybe a ghost, a clown and a demon child?!..this still a great game to be part of your collection...love the artwork

Great game to take on trips. There's a companion app you can download so that you don't have to carry around anything other than the cards. Design work is great. Gameplay is very fun and easy.

This game far exceeded my expectations. The artwork is amazing and the game is a fun family game. We play it on game night or just for fun at home.
