Sangean BB-100 AM/FM/Bluetooth/Aux-in Ultra Rugged Digital Tuning Rechargeable Radio (Renewed)

As our devices lost output jacks, we wanted something to help supplement Sangean (green) radio with the Aux-input. While we brought it in for cold weather, that one weathered (literally) storms, a few hard frosts, and one tumble off the second-story deck railing -- all with no issues at all. We have equally high hopes for this one, and so far, so good.The biggest difference and only real criticism: the fidelity level of the Bluetooth wireless isn't that high. Meaning, even at the highest output level from your phone's BT, the sound output from the radio-speaker is much less than for the radio itself or especially in comparison to the wired Aux-input version we still have. With the BB-100 Bluetooth connection, the sound input level is much lower, so you have to turn the volume up higher, which eventually sounds like crap (distortion, fuzziness, etc). Overall, the "blue" speaker sounds a bit more tinny and less robust than the "green" speaker, but not enough to be a major issue.Biggest plus: having a good sounding BT speaker out on the deck that you don't suddenly wake up when it rains and go "Oh sh**, I left the speaker outside!"

Right out of the box it worked fine, good sound, pulled in the one FM station I listen to clearly, used a cord to play my real old iPod through it.BUT - it was a refurbished model and only lasted about 18 months before either the thing wouldn't play at all or the volume became detached from the knob and it only whispered.SO DON'T BUY A REFURBISHED UNIT!

Solid build!Strong Bluetooth connection maintained.Could use a tone adjustment knob to add a little treble to the sound....Good value item!Built in charger for rechargeable batteries is nice....

I saved a lot of money buying refurbished on this product and it worked just as good as a new one. Great sound and great volume! Clear radio!
