Surprisingly nice sound from a small unit. USB powered.
We bought the WR-7GW after being impressed with a clock radio from Sangean, a Taiwanese company. Impressed again with this unit. The selection of radios has become quite limited, aside from cheap junky units, smart speakers, and full-on hi-fi receivers. We wanted something in-between --- just an FM radio for the kitchen, but with decent sound. The Sangean WR-7 fits the bill: It is *very* small but looks nice, feels sturdy, and has really surprisingly good sound for a portable radio.A note on model numbers: WR-7 has various suffixes (like GW) that appear to depend on variations including power connection. WR-7GW has a micro-USB port for power, and comes with a USB-A to micro-USB cable but not with a power supply; we are using one of those little white cubes that looks like it came with an iPhone but is probably a knock-off, which is fine. Sangean also makes a model with USB-C power, but it is apparently only available in Taiwan at this time (November 2024). We like this radio well enough that we'll probably buy a couple more for other rooms, but we may wait until the USB-C model is available in the U.S.We will normally keep the radio plugged in, but the internal battery could be handy if we lose power in a storm this winter.

Small But Mighty
OK so I knew it was small, but in person it seemed even more tiny than I was expecting.I bought this to be a kitchen radio, and even though it's probably too small for this purpose, it sounds pretty great. I might recommend a larger unit for most people's kitchens, but in our case I think it will work.Office, bedroom, bathroom(?), travel, this thing is an easy choice. One thing to note, the BUILT IN fm antenna (invisible) is excellent. No need to buy the recommended external antenna, it also comes with an external wire antenna if needed.... But the built in one is really strong.

Range isn't super far but very cute and good sound.
Good sound quality. I use this in my kitchen and garden. The only downsides are that 1.) somehow the finish chipped in multiple places and I definitely didn't drop it so I don't know how that happened. It is minor though. 2.) the range isn't super far. If I walk from my front yard to my backyard with my phone in my pocket it loses range and stops playing and my yard is really small. But I do like the sound and the look very much.

Great Small Radio
I like to use this radio everyday while shaving. Small, nicely made with decent sound quality.

Great sound, great radio, no bt pairing button
I bought three Bluetooth speakers for different purposes: an Oontz Angle 3 Ultra, this Sangean WR-7GW, and a Marshall Emberton. I am not an audiophile, but I want respectable sound quality from anything I am listening to.This Sangean WR-7GW has an outstanding balance of features. It is replacing an old "kitchen radio" that performed admirably for a couple of decades.- I absolutely love the built-in radio on this Sangean. Even without the external wire antennae, I easily tune in stations 30 to 40 miles away. The analog tuner is great. A green light comes on when a station is tuned in properly.- Aesthetically, this thing is just wonderful. For a kitchen radio, we didn't want an ugly speaker. This little guy is just so darn cute. The soft backlit analog display and dial are lovely. The walnut retro cabinet is so much better than the Marshall or Oontz for our use. The size is adorable. It fits in the palm of my hand.- Bluetooth connectivity is clumsy. I believe the spec is 4.1. The unit stays paired to my phone (Pixel 6A) for at least the 30 feet between the kitchen, laundry room, living room, etc. The unit has no button to put it in pairing mode so you can switch devices. If the currently paired device is within range, the only way to pair a different device is to disable Bluetooth on the paired device. I originally rated this unit 5 stars, but after a month of using it, this missing feature has proved to be annoying.- I don't expect to use the aux input much any more, but it is nice to have one and it works.- Beyond BT pairing mode, I wouldn't want any additional features on this speaker. Adding AM radio would mean adding AM numbers on the dial and another toggle for switching between AM/FM.- The battery is quite respectable. The unit has a micro-USB charging port but I would prefer to see USB-C now.- If Sangean updates the BT spec, the charging port, and adds BT pairing mode, this product has a wonderful future. To compare the sound quality of each speaker, I used a variety of music styles and favorite podcasts which include both male and female voices. Artists ranged from Andrea Bocelli to Hilary Hahn to Tuba Skinny to Trombone Shorty to Van Halen. My conclusions:- The Marshall Emberton clearly wins. It lives up to the Marshall name. The sound quality is simply outstanding.- This Sangean WR-7GW is remarkable and definitely good enough for day-to-day listening. This little guy is impressive. If I was only keeping one speaker, this would be it.- The Oontz Angle 3 Ultra was returned. It was tinny.

Very Cute, but dimensions are not as listed
The speaker is very cute and has good sound; HOWEVER, the dimensions under product description are lies. It should be 6.5” long, but the speaker is 4.5” long. I don’t think it should be $80 for how small it is.

Great little radio / bluetooth speaker
The wood case is really nice, and the build of this bluetooth speaker / radio is obviously high quality.Other reviews have mentioned how small this device is, and it is tiny (picture 2 packs of cigarettes to get an idea). The controls at first glance appear too small, but it really is no issue at all. The sound is very good, and this little box delivers a surprising amount of bass.Radio reception is good, bluetooth works as expected. This little Sangean is fantastic if your expectations of it are realistic. You're not going to use it outdoors (it's not loud enough), and you're not going to rattle paintings on the wall with it. But if you're looking for a little FM radio or bluetooth speaker for your night table or desk, then its absolutely perfect. All told, really happy with this purchase.

This tiny BT, FM radio speaker rocks!
My Sangean wr7 arrived in good condition and was charged enough to operate immediately. It has an excellent sound quality without sounding scratchy, tinny or have a bass drone. Great FM reception without plugging in an antenna and mp3 player works great, did not try the BT and doubt I will use it. Very happy!
